Healing Waters features one large, main pool which does give off some public pool vibes – think total lack of shade, not quite enough chairs, and small children running and cannon bombing into the water.īut the highlight for me, and the thing that made up for the running, splashing children – was the smaller hot tub in the back. Healing Waters is another small(ish) hot spring in Pagosa Springs and is set up drastically differently than Overlook Hot Springs across the way. Healing Waters Hot Springs Pagosa Springs review This was the only established hot spring we went to that didn’t have one of those spinny machines to dry your swimsuit in. There was no swimsuit-ring-outer-machine.The customer service was amazing! The woman checking everyone in gave each group a personal tour, explained what and where everything was and even checked in on us throughout the day.The views from the rooftop were great and ultimately where we spent the most time. The courtyard was a quiet little oasis, you would never know you were right in the middle of a city.Even though it looked like such a small locale from the outside, it never felt crowded on the inside or in any of the soaking areas. It’s a very short walk away and there’s free parking over there with no hourly limit.Īll in all, Overlook Hot Springs was our favorite place in Pagosa Springs. Pro tip: If you don’t want to feel crunched by the 2-hour street parking limit, park across the bridge near the Healing Waters Hot Springs and/or Pagosa Springs Visitor’s Center. There were even more tubs to soak in outdoors as well. ![]() It was truly wonderful inside! It looks almost like a historic hotel inside, but instead of formal dining tables, chairs and dinnerware – there were only hot spring tubs filling the room. I was skeptical at first because it does look like any other storefront and not like natural hot springs. Passing you through, you would never guess that there are hot springs right there inside a building along the cute little main street in downtown Pagosa Springs. Overlook Hot Springs Pagosa Springs review Now, you can not go up the stairs and enter the resort without paying – but there is a small yet amazing pool right in the river that collects the hot spring water from the resort and they don’t own the river, so you can soak there and avoid some of the crowds at Nathan’s Hippy Dippy Hot Spring. If you’re feeling adventurous, and the water is low enough to safely do so, there’s even better free soaking just across the river in the pool at the very base of The Springs Resort. One free hot spring is Nathan’s Hippy Dippy Hot Spring which is a small pool on the side of the river just upstream from Tequila’s restaurant. There are a couple of free hot springs in Pagosa Springs if you know where to look. This post may contain affiliate links for your convenience, see my full disclosure for more info.

The benefits of practicing meditation can be profound when you practice every day. Catching yourself and starting over is the exercise. The point is to catch yourself when your mind is wandering and begin again. The point of meditation is not to keep a perfectly clear and focused mind – this is extraordinarily difficult even for experienced meditators. So when your mind wanders during meditation and you start thinking about something else, which is inevitable, you catch yourself, gently bring your focus back, and start again. And when we try to focus away from these thoughts during meditation, we succeed only momentarily – at least at first. Our minds chatter away endlessly with self-talk, ideas, images, and reminders. Most of us are entirely unaware of this inner dialogue, but at any given moment, we are usually lost in thought. It’s a lot harder to do than it sounds because your mind will wander constantly. There are a lot of different styles of meditation, each involving a different approach, technique, or method, and with varying results.īut generally speaking, meditation is a mental exercise that involves concentrating your attention onto a single point of focus, like your breathing, a mantra, or a part of your body, for an extended period of time. ![]() What is meditation?īefore I go any further, I need to explain a couple of things about meditation. Gradually she begins to question her own memories and perceptions. When he turns on the lights in the attic to search for her jewelry collection, and the gas lights dim downstairs, he tells her it’s all in her imagination. The term “gaslighting” comes from the 1938 play Angel Street, which Alfred Hitchock later adapted into the film Gaslight, in which a man tries to convince his wife that she is going insane so he can steal from her. Typically, gaslighters are seeking to gain power and control over the other person, by distorting reality and forcing them to question their own judgment and intuition. Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which the abuser attempts to sow self-doubt and confusion in their victim’s mind. Let’s take a closer look at the definition and origin of the word gaslighting, the mental health impact of this behavior, and how to tell if someone is gaslighting you. But before you accuse someone of this behavior, it’s important to understand what gaslighting really means and how to look for the signs of gaslighting in a relationship. Overall, that’s a good thing, because greater awareness around this form of emotional abuse can help people avoid threatening and unhealthy relationships. Gaslighting and other forms of emotional abuse have also shown up in popular media recently-for example, in the Netflix series Maid, the novel and movie The Girl on the Train, and the reality TV show The Bachelorette. With more young people talking openly about mental health, gaslighting has become an increasingly common topic among this age group over the last few years.
